Should there be Core Heroes?
This is a thought mostly for people who either don't have NF or GWEN or for some reason don't want to take their chars there before they complete a campaign, but as GW gets bigger, the fan base spreads out. As it does, group with real people becomes harder. Furthermore people with only proph or factions are at a disadvantage simply because they are left with generic henchies which have fewer options and controllability than heroes.
With those things in mind, shouldn't Anet consider adding a few core heroes for people who only have those two games, or the first two + GWEN but not NF?

If they did that then they'd lose a major selling point of NF.
More people need to buy this game

Well, that kind of defeats the purpose of what the OP is trying to say... he's thinking of the people who don't own all the campaign + expansion and doesn't have access to heroes.
Anywho, I agree with mazey, NF and EotN would lose a product value as heroes are the new things on the block. If people want to use heroes they should buy NF or EotN, thus, bringing more people to where the majority of the playerbase are at.

EotN heroes are essentially core, since you have access to them from all 3 campaigns.
I think NF can stand on its own 2 feet even if people have EotN heroes. Its a good game with or without heroes.

As I see it they are moving away from hero-less games and heroes aren't the only selling points of GWEN or NF.
It's also kind of monotonous to start a Proph/Fact char then get to LA or Kaineng City, make a run to NF and GWEN for a few quick heroes, then continue on in the game you started.

Core heros would be a great idea imo, I would petition to add heros to factions and Proph (even if it required us to own all 3 games) perhaps 1 mesmer, 1 paragon, 1 dervish, 1 assassin, and 1 ritualist.
Assassin and Ritualist added to factions (obvious fit)
Mesmer, Paragon and Dervish added to proph (so that the player can have up to 3 of each type of hero...

i also wanted since NF, that Mhenlo, Devona, Cynn, Eve and Aidan become heroes, those ones would be the intentional "core" heroes, because they are THE heroes of the whole game and with Gwen, the team is complete, every core class would be there > 2 male, 4 woman, 2 for each XD rofl *jokes*
those characers were henchs in every campaign, in each game they were present, so when the game should become core heroes, then those characters ...
I'd really love to get those as heroes and to put them too in nice elite armors and to play with them with my builds, making for example out of Eve a MM and no dumb blood w.hore which is perma bleeding XD lol how pervert that sounds *g*
